36-tex Posted March 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2014 Is this U.S. or is it a Vietnamese award? What is it?
ocsfollowme Posted March 8, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 8, 2014 I don't know anything about Vietnam patches, but when I was a docent on board the USS Midway I was collecting original and repro patches of the aircraft carrier and came across something similar to this. Yellow star, same color twill and border. But it obviously didnt have the pt boat on it. It was being sold a repro on ebay for $4. I dont have my box of midway patches with me, so I apologize. But it reminds me of one of those reproduction of a fantasy piece. IMHO.

gwb123 Posted March 8, 2014 Share #4 Posted March 8, 2014 Those look like the profiles of a Swift Boat and a PBR. Both were used by the post war Vietnamese Navy, and the Philippine Navy. There were probably other foreign nations that used this combination of small craft as well.
Patchcollector Posted March 8, 2014 Share #5 Posted March 8, 2014 I seem to remember some South and/or Central American countries used them too,and like GWB stated, there may be others.
