Were Marines during WW2 issued certain socks? Im pretty sure they were issued the same socks as the Army because I have not seen any information any where of the Marines getting a certain type of sock but im not sure.

I remember reading in one of the "The Pacific" spin-off books (non-fiction of course, possibly written by R V Burgin if I'm not mistaken), that WW2 Marines were issued thin, cheaply made socks which I distinctly remember reading that some Marines gladly liberated the better constructed, warmer and thicker socks issued by the Army

I've never heard of that, that's really interesting. If anyone has any picture's or owns a pair and could take pictures of them so that other forum members could see them also that would be great. I have never seen a pair on the forum or anywhere else.

I have a pair from a WWII Usmc grouping, I would have to look for them.
