knd643 Posted February 7, 2014 #1 Posted February 7, 2014 Were Marines during WW2 issued certain socks? Im pretty sure they were issued the same socks as the Army because I have not seen any information any where of the Marines getting a certain type of sock but im not sure.
bellasilva Posted February 7, 2014 #2 Posted February 7, 2014 I remember reading in one of the "The Pacific" spin-off books (non-fiction of course, possibly written by R V Burgin if I'm not mistaken), that WW2 Marines were issued thin, cheaply made socks which I distinctly remember reading that some Marines gladly liberated the better constructed, warmer and thicker socks issued by the Army
knd643 Posted February 7, 2014 Author #3 Posted February 7, 2014 I've never heard of that, that's really interesting. If anyone has any picture's or owns a pair and could take pictures of them so that other forum members could see them also that would be great. I have never seen a pair on the forum or anywhere else.
uplandmod Posted February 7, 2014 #4 Posted February 7, 2014 I have a pair from a WWII Usmc grouping, I would have to look for them. LF
