Axe carrier that likely dates between 1910 and 1913.

Pea Green, square tab, flat buckle, metal tube that the wire passes
though. This is the first pattern axe carrier. I found this on Ebay
a week or so ago.

Very nice pre WWI cover !

I always have a soft spot for hatchet covers & canteen covers! The hanger material is the same material used on the M1905 pre WWI first aid pouches hangers. The top dollar military hatchet covers are the WWII US British made ones, they always bring $200 on ebay. Back ten years ago I purchased a mint Brit made hatchet cover off ebay for $50 and I thought to myself am I crazy? but now I look back and it was very smart buy.

It has to be a rare 100 year old cover.

I'd bet on 1911, given the chape material and hook assembly. These are usually marked inside the flap on the edge with the border tape. Bet'cha knew that. ;)

Nice grab!

Very nice find! Hand axe/hatchet covers are always a neat item.
