I recently picked a uniform at a local pawn shop of all places that has a ribbon I have no idea what it is. The one in question is the first ribbon in the second row (BWR Green RWB). Can anyone help me out here? Mahalo, John

Hello John. Looks similar to the Navy Unit Commendation Medal, but the colors are slightly different. Thanks, Al.

Colors are often slightly different in these embroidered ribbons, and the red stripes should be the same width as the blue and yellow, but I'd say definitely a NUC. Couple possibilities here...he could have started in the Navy and eventually switched to the Army. Even if he had earned a Navy GC, when you transfer branches you have two choices. You can either wear both GC's, or you can exchange it for that of the new branch if you choose

Or, maybe he was attached to a Naval unit, possibly transported on ship or attached for awhile? Definitely needs research, is the uniform named?

There were some Army unit's that did earn the Navy Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation, etc..
