otter42 Posted October 3, 2012 #1 Posted October 3, 2012 Saw this for sale yesterday, can anyone give me some info and value on this, thanks Ken
Bebel Posted October 7, 2012 #5 Posted October 7, 2012 BA-2xx (21, 22, or other model) back style parachute used by USAF pilots since the 60's in some aircrafts. Since new ejection seats models appeared at the end of the 60's, the back parachute was replaced by torso harness. But still in use on some old ANG fighters (F-106, F-105, ...) in the 1970/80's and B-52. If complete, a good USAF pilots collectors item. I'm searching a such one but dated from the 60's. Franck
otter42 Posted October 8, 2012 Author #6 Posted October 8, 2012 Thanks Franck for the info, they are asking $200. for it, looks complete but I don't know if it's worth that. Ken
ffuries Posted October 21, 2012 #7 Posted October 21, 2012 As stated it's a BA-22 (IIRC), has the MD-1 bailout bottle, the CRU-60/P oxygen connector, with the D-ring handle and attachment it was most likely used in trainer (IE T-37 or T-39) aircraft. The connector on the handle is connected to the seat in the aircraft and auto-deploys the chute during man-seat seperation.
