One more 1st Army Rope on Lieutenant General Willis D. Crittenberger, who commanded the unit from 1950 to 1952, when he retired NYC gave him a ticker Tape Parade.

One more sighting of the 50s 1st Army Ropes of Red White and Black, Here a WAC of 1st Army in Transit, maybe heading home on a leave, taking a Mountain Rucksack along too.

A most curious one, William E. Shambora, that Rope he's wearing sure looks like the Devil's Brigade right? But can't see anywhere that Shambora served in this unit, seems to have served within the 1st Army in the Big One WW TWO (I think).

Its one of those 1st Army Red White and Black Ropes, As......"In 1950 General Shambora was First Army Surgeon". In WWII  when stateside, Surgeon for Army Ground Forces, and later as it turns out he was in the 9th Army in the ETO.
