Retired Posted August 16, 2009 #1 Posted August 16, 2009 Here are some photos of a model that I just finished. It is a Trumpeter 1:35 scale which has 430 pieces in the kit. I didn't use quite all of the pieces since it had an extra set of wheels and an extra set of supports for the troop seats in the back. Perhaps Trumpeter is getting ready to bring out a model of the 5 Ton truck.

I went out to the local National Guard maintenance facility and took a bunch of pictures of various details to help in the construction.

Darktrooper Posted August 16, 2009 #4 Posted August 16, 2009 I used to drive one, and they are a blast to drive! The inside is still Green, even on the tan ones, I cant tell on your model, I'm just offering it up as a tip. Awesome Job, I might have to get one.
MattD Posted August 16, 2009 #5 Posted August 16, 2009 I also found an M1078 walk-around on the internet which helped. Now you should build the "War Pig" SF version-as used in Iraq invasion

Now you should build the "War Pig" SF version-as used in Iraq invasion You can't tell from the photos, but the inside is olive green. That is one reason that I went to the NG facility. Neither the kit instructions nor the walk-around showed anything about the inside coloring. The kit instrument panel is not as detailed as the real truck but I was able to do a reasonable job. The red fire extinguisher is in front of the right passenger seat as in the real truck. This was a fun kit to build. Retired
The Meatcan Posted August 17, 2009 #9 Posted August 17, 2009 nice job! how were the tires? are they vinyl or rubber? Yours looks cool. Terry
Philip Posted August 17, 2009 #10 Posted August 17, 2009 Well done! I have to get this kit sooner or later. Unfortunately the original Austrian version (12M18) isn't available as plastic model kit...
Old Marine Posted August 17, 2009 #11 Posted August 17, 2009 Nice Job! The painting and markings are great. That's a nice looking model.
Retired Posted August 17, 2009 Author #12 Posted August 17, 2009 Nice Job! The painting and markings are great. That's a nice looking model. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. The tires are rubber. There was a center mold mark that was very difficult to remove. I used a small file which gave a worn look to the tread. Dallas
