In the Fall of 2011, i picked up a rather large grouping at an estate sale belonging to a Navy Corpsman. I found out last minute about the sale, walked in about 5 minutes after it started, and wandered into a bedroom that had a mound of military clothing piled up on the floor. I could not believe my luck when I saw all the HBT's on top. Being a bigger dude, i did what I could and fell on top of it and claimed it all! There were 4 named HBT shirts, 2 Navy jumpers, 2 USMC dress greens, a khaki shirt, a rain coat, and a couple of hats. I gave one HBT shirt to a picked friend of mine who gave me the heads up on the sale.

The grouping belonged to a Navy Corpsman who served in Korea, Allen Wiilam Cadieux. I found his obituary here, http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/macombdai...p;pid=147966190 If anyone has any other info on him it would be greatly appreciated, his obit states he was awarded a Purple Heart. I would like to restore the rest of his ribbons if I can.

Here are some pics of the best of the lot:

This is superb! I think I remember you posting about this find earlier, it’s great to see all the items together in one place and displayed so well! Could you post a close up of the stencil on the left sleeve of the P41 please?

Great post.

In this case I couldnt pass it up! HBT's were $3 a pieces, after all they were "pretty worn out" and the Navy jumper was $6, the dress greens were $12 a piece! I was telling Will, i think a Navy jumper may have ended up with a friend of mine who I handed an HBT too, but i was ok with that.

The rest of the sale was void of anything military, so i didnt find any paperwork, medals, etc.

Amazing prices!!! I'm glad it went to a good home! This is definitely worthy of getting the records for!

Jay,

Thanks for the additional shots. The markings on the sleeve are identical to those on a P44 HBT jacket I own, confirming that it was indeed a Korean War era practice. Not too common to see the caduceus stencilled on dungarees!

Great group of items.
