MattS Posted November 4, 2011 #1 Posted November 4, 2011 Here's a uniform in our local museum that we don't display. I think it came from a civic theater and has no history with it which is too bad because the ribbons tell a pretty interesting story by themselves. It was made in Japan in 1949 by Chikuma. The LTCol leaves are pin backs and appear to be original to the uniform. Too bad there's no name in it. Sorry for the quality of the photos, all I had was my phone. Comments welcome!
MattS Posted November 4, 2011 Author #2 Posted November 4, 2011 Here's the spec label with the inspector's name, but not the owners.
History Man Posted November 5, 2011 #3 Posted November 5, 2011 thats a beautiful uniform  love that ribbon rack! :w00t: philip

MattS Posted November 5, 2011 Author #5 Posted November 5, 2011 Thanks for the comments! Yeah, there can't be that many DFC, Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star recipients out there. Add to that he was an officer, probably AAF prior to 1947 and I would think the number of candidates would be small, but who knows.
MattS Posted March 20, 2013 Author #6 Posted March 20, 2013 I'm researching silvertans and came across my old thread. Any other help in identifying a possible owner of this uniform? I believe there is a book out there with a list of Soldiers Medal recipients in it, but I could not locate a copy.
BEAST Posted March 20, 2013 #7 Posted March 20, 2013 Army AIr Force, Soldier's Medal & Pearl Harbor vet? Cant be too many of those. What's the odds that he was from Indiana?
MattS Posted March 20, 2013 Author #8 Posted March 20, 2013 Very possible. We received 2 civic theater costume collections, one from Muncie, IN and the other was from around New Castle (Henry County), IN. I don't recall without getting it back out which one this was, but I do believe it was one of those two.
