Corpsmancollector Posted May 17, 2011 #27 Posted May 17, 2011 Nice bag, that 1st Division one. I'd have thought a fair price too, with a not too common name it may be possible to research. Thanks for keeping this topic active, Brig. Will
Brig Posted May 18, 2011 Author #30 Posted May 18, 2011 oh my God...that's one salty vet whose seen a lot. Tarawa...Oki...Peleliu...Iwo...Guadalcanal very impressive. have you researched him?
MBMorley Posted May 18, 2011 #31 Posted May 18, 2011 Brig, great find on the sea bag!! I had that one on my watch list but decided not to bid at the last minute. By the way that's a 3rd Marine Division marked sea bag, NOT 1st Mar Div!! Oft times the 3rd Div guys used the 1st Div tac mark because it was similar to their own but wider and much easier to mark the unit numbers inside. I'm envious!!
MBMorley Posted May 18, 2011 #32 Posted May 18, 2011 Here are a few of my Tac marked or Painted Sea Bags or Officer's valise. 4th Marine Division Officer's valise bag.
MBMorley Posted May 18, 2011 #33 Posted May 18, 2011 Here is a 4th Marine Division Sea bag that I have in my collection.
MBMorley Posted May 18, 2011 #38 Posted May 18, 2011 I just found this online!! This is a picture of WO Graham E. Rose U.S.M.C.R. Headquarters & Service Company, 20th Marines (Engineer), at Camp Pen, in 1943. He is (left to right) 2nd from the end.
