robinb Posted October 17, 2009 #1 Posted October 17, 2009 I took these for a friend, and thought I'd share with the forum. This is my M1918 Marlin Rockwell machine rifle. Made in April of 1919. Yes, it's real, and it fires.
illen Posted October 17, 2009 #3 Posted October 17, 2009 Hi! What a stunning weapon! god bless you :w00t: /illen
Jim Baker Posted October 17, 2009 #4 Posted October 17, 2009 At the top of my firearms dream sheet. Beautiful. How does it shoot?
craig johnson Posted October 17, 2009 #6 Posted October 17, 2009 Nice weapon Robin. Is there a story behind it. Always like a good story.
robinb Posted October 18, 2009 Author #8 Posted October 18, 2009 Nice weapon Robin. Is there a story behind it. Always like a good story. No real story with it. It was in a collection in Arizona, and the guy sold it so he could remodel his kitchen.
Tony V Posted October 18, 2009 #9 Posted October 18, 2009 Robin Very, very nice. This is one that is at the top of a lot of peoples lists. WOW Thank you for posting yours Tony

Greg Robinson Posted October 18, 2009 #11 Posted October 18, 2009 I live in a state....Georgia....where you can own full auto weapons but it's a lengthy, and expensive, process. Used to be a Class III dealer in this area who usually had some nice weapons. He once let me handle a BAR M1918A2 he had for sale.....believe the asking price was about $3500 ++ all the taxes, fees, etc that went with owning such a weapon. I finally decided it was too much money and too much liability having a "machine gun" in my home....so passed on it. But I still think about that lovely old BAR. But as nice as it was it was nowhere near as nice as that WW1 period Model of 1918....CONGRATS ROBIN!!!
MFortney Posted October 18, 2009 #12 Posted October 18, 2009 Very nice! Thanks for sharing. That one's at the top of my list too but I'm sure the only version I'll ever own is a repro semi.
Greg Robinson Posted October 18, 2009 #13 Posted October 18, 2009 Marine basic infantry training in 1967 included a "familiarization fire" of the BAR. What a joy it was to shoot but I sure wouldn't have enjoyed carrying that heavy weapon. Greg
Linedoggie Posted October 18, 2009 #14 Posted October 18, 2009 :drool2: :drool2: :crybaby: robert I would eat outside for years before I would have sold that B.A.R.
gunbarrel Posted October 18, 2009 #15 Posted October 18, 2009 I would eat outside for years before I would have sold that B.A.R. Too funny!

David Posted October 19, 2009 #17 Posted October 19, 2009 Nice BAR. I want a real C&R GI M1918A2 BAR and would gladly trade my transferable M60 for one, but they seem non existent.
Douglas Jr. Posted October 21, 2009 #18 Posted October 21, 2009 Very nice BAR. I have one that was converted to a M1918A2 during WWII (oh yeah, it is live and kicking). They are sweet. Congratulations. Douglas
