cbuehler Posted August 27, 2007 Share #29 Posted August 27, 2007 This is an absolutely outstanding collection of duck hunter camo being shown here! An incredible variety that I for one never even new existed. As an aside, some of this type of camo is downright strange and certainly would not present a very effective camouflage in any terrain I can think of. Those swim trucks are one example that may actually defeat any camo attempt! Please show us more. CB

Spike Posted August 30, 2007 Share #31 Posted August 30, 2007 beogam, I found this beret on ebay and this pattern looks to me to be very similar, if not exactly the same, to the beret you have pictured with the shorts. This is NOT a Vietnam pattern of tiger stripe, this is a commercial pattern. This beret pictured here is one of the fakes coming out of Vietnam today. Spike Posted September 2, 2007 Share #34 Posted September 2, 2007 The beret on the guy in the pic doesn't look fake to me, hey, I could be wrong, it just looks like the pattern on your beret looks sorta like the commercial stuff. I have probably had every type of tiger stripe at one time or another in the last 20 years so I'm not new. It looked weird to me that's all, don't take it personal. It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.....

dustin Posted September 6, 2007 Share #41 Posted September 6, 2007 I like that vest...very unusual! was it just a random pickup? looks like the holster is for the 1911. very GI and would not think it to be a civilian made item..if it wasn't for the holster I would think a hunter vest and loops to be for shotgun shells
Spike Posted September 10, 2007 Share #42 Posted September 10, 2007 There was duck hunter patterned beret, at least for a very short time during pre-deployment around 67/68, that SEALs were issued and while some were worn in country there aren't many pictures of them being used. Boonie hats were used for the most part though ERDL berets were used as late a 71. As far as the duck hunter beret you show, if I saw that at a surplus store or at a militaria show I wouldn't have given it a second look. It looks like something commercially made especially with the quilted orange liner....what do I know. Besides, I don't pay attention to duckhunter camo cause I never liked it and now every single piece of DH camo on ebay is "advisor" or "beogam". Yup, I used to see tons of crappy duck hunter stuff in thrift and used clothing stores here in the SF bay area (still is quite a bit of it). Now I see that it has miraculously become " beogam advisor" stuff! I should have grabbed it all and jumped on the ebay bandwagon! CB
River Patrol Posted September 12, 2007 Share #44 Posted September 12, 2007 The duck hunter pattern, while worn by American advisors and others early during the war, is NOT rare!
Spike Posted September 12, 2007 Share #45 Posted September 12, 2007 "The duck hunter pattern, while worn by American advisors and others early during the war, is NOT rare! " And every piece of duck hunter was NOT worn in Vietnam. I respect the guys that collect it and the actual Vietnam made stuff is really cool but I'm pretty sick of seeing every single piece of duck hunter on eBay descibed as advisor or beogam. Once ERDL came out and tiger stripe was available very few troops or units used duck hunter camo.
