917601 Posted March 28, 2019 #1 Posted March 28, 2019 https://www.dpaa.mil/News-Stories/News-Releases/PressReleaseArticleView/Article/1764336/soldier-accounted-for-from-world-war-ii-mills-c/ As some may know I a member of Deltas Honor Guard. Today we on ramp transferred Pfc Mills remains back home to Indiana ( full 7 flag on ramp transfer) . Each remains comes with an active duty member from each branch accompanying the remains. As far as I know, Delta Airlines is the only airline to supply this service. We have been busy. DOD since 2016 has been on fire exhuming unknowns and using DNA to ID remains...schedules this spring and summer 30 USS Oklahoma remains, 40 Tarawa remains, and many Korean War unknowns ( thank you Mr Trump). Interesting background info on Pfc Mills, much on the internet about him. As an 82nd Airborne vet, this man had special interest to me, and my father was in I co, 86th INF Div., shot up at the Bonzel Crossroads April 11th.
917601 Posted March 28, 2019 Author #3 Posted March 28, 2019 From what the escort said, his gravesite ceremony will have a full 82nd Airborne Honor Guard burial detail present....how times have suddenly changed.
