Government Issue Posted October 2, 2018 #6 Posted October 2, 2018 Beautiful stuff. I remember reading that Jackson was doing this a year or so ago. It's outstanding to see the footage increase in quality with digitizing it like that. I'm still not a fan of coloring it as I feel it diminishes the quality a bit, but I'll be looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for the post!
Squeaker Posted October 2, 2018 #7 Posted October 2, 2018 I cant find if this will make it to the US in any capacity? Anyone found out?
JasonT Posted November 11, 2018 #8 Posted November 11, 2018 The film debuted at the London Film Festival in October but no date yet on international release, though it is in the works. Looks to be great though and I look forward to seeing it. Jackson and his team spent 4 years and reviewed 600 hours of footage. They didnt just colorize it, but added texture, corrected the speed of the film to make it more life like and added audio interviews with vets from the British archives.
JasonT Posted November 11, 2018 #9 Posted November 11, 2018 I spoke too soon - Variety reports that the movie will play in US theaters from Fathom Events on 12/17 and 12/27 only and tickets go on sale on 11/16. https://variety.com/2018/film/news/peter-jackson-they-shall-not-grow-old-release-date-1203025072/
Garandomatic Posted November 11, 2018 #10 Posted November 11, 2018 Oh man.... I'd almost bet a stack of silver dollars t It won't be near me, but that would sure be cool...
JasonT Posted November 11, 2018 #11 Posted November 11, 2018 I think if you have a Regal, Cinemark or AMC near you you'll be all set. I'm sure though that it will come out on Netflix or Amazon Prime at some point too.
Garandomatic Posted November 12, 2018 #12 Posted November 12, 2018 My cinemark doesn't seem interested in showing anything remotely good, though. At least not what id call good!
