hzamar Posted February 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2017 To me this feels fatter than a GI grenade and the fuze is different. There is no spoon. If anyone can ID the grenade I would appreciate it. Thank you, Herb

Cololab Posted February 19, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 19, 2017 It is my understanding that this style was indeed used by the AEF. I do not know if the French continued this pattern after WW1 however. I have a complete grenade of this type that is only marked with the capital letter "I". In all other respects it looks like yours.
hbtcoveralls Posted February 19, 2017 Share #8 Posted February 19, 2017 A french Farmer handed me one of these straight from his field in the Somme near Perronne back in 2014. Realizing it was still live I thanked him and reburied it nearby. Nice find and definitely used by the AEF along with Mills bombs Tom Bowers
