Buffalo Grunt Posted July 20, 2016 #54 Posted July 20, 2016 A great sign! Large in size and referencing the "White Buffaloes" 1/17 Infantry. Note, Jeep belongs to the Columbian Battalion, who at the time was attached to the 17th Infantry Regiment. Most likely between the Pork Chop Battles .. circa May 1953. Another great picture of the Regimental Command Post sign A cool picture of the exchange at Camp Schimmelpfennig, Japan circa 1948-49

patches Posted July 24, 2016 Author #61 Posted July 24, 2016 Found a couple more from Korea as well. The 772nd MP Bn on an Armored Train, it's a scan I did, sorry, it's a little hard to make out the wording I know, but it's says Co B 772nd MP Bn.
patches Posted July 24, 2016 Author #62 Posted July 24, 2016 And the 26th AAA Bn, 1953, this unit was assigned to the 24th Inf Div, and was taken when the 24th Div returned to the Korean Peninsula for the very last phase of the war. Not sure who that 8th Army officer is, maybe a higher up staff officer from 8th Army checking things out. Couldn't find an actual image of the 26th AAA's DI, but here is it's Coat of Arms.

patches Posted August 26, 2016 Author #66 Posted August 26, 2016 The 32nd Armor Unit Crest on the sides of a 6th Bn 32nd Armor M60 Tank at Ft Knox Kentucky in 1973. The 6th of the 32nd Armor, a high numbered CARS unit of the 32nd Armor was activated at Knox in 1966 because of the war, it was Armor School Support and initially separate, but somewhere down the road the battalion was assigned to the 194th Armored Brigade (Sep) as we see from the bumper/hull marking. Not sure what happens to unit after a point seen one site that says it was reassigned to the 4th Inf Div (Mech) at Ft Carson Colorado, from what we could see, in the late 70s or early 80s. But it isn't active at this time, unit reflagged as 3rd Bn 68th Armor at Carson in the early 90s . Also haven't seen the 32nd Armor unit crest on the tanks of the other of the 32nd Armor's battalions of this period, namely those in the 3rd Armd Division in West Germany, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalions 32nd Armor, So perhaps this is something only the 6th Battalion did.
patches Posted April 19, 2017 Author #67 Posted April 19, 2017 The unit crest of the Air Defense Artillery Center & School is on this Quad 50, scanned this from a 1972 C B Colby book, and will date between 1965 (year DI was adopted) and that date, though it was probably taken sometime in the 60s.

Foto BTW would be at Ft Bliss Texas.
cavcon Posted April 20, 2017 #69 Posted April 20, 2017 A nice shot of Captain Robert Dwan, CO of Troop A, 15th Cavalry Squadron while assigned to District Constabulary duties in occupied Germany in early 1946. The District Constabulary was a "trial run" for the US Constabulary. Note the 15th Cavalry patch on the grill of the jeep.
seanmc1114 Posted May 2, 2017 #70 Posted May 2, 2017 Sign at the headquarters of the 1st Brigade 5th Infantry Division's Camp Red Devil in Vietnam
patches Posted May 15, 2017 Author #71 Posted May 15, 2017 Sign at the headquarters of the 1st Brigade 5th Infantry Division's Camp Red Devil in Vietnam I find it very interesting and puzzling that the brigade's official recon elmt is not depicted, that being the 4th Squadron 12th Cavalry, Troop A that is. (the 3rd Squadron 5th Cavalry was merely attached)
patches Posted June 3, 2017 Author #73 Posted June 3, 2017 Unit Crests of units assigned to the 12th Aviation Group RVN circa 1969.
patches Posted September 2, 2017 Author #74 Posted September 2, 2017 The unit crest of the 109th Infantry, 28th Infantry Division, foto I believe is taken shortly after the Battle of the Colmar Pocket, towards the end of February 1945.
