Here is a current verified and very general listing of direct links to all manner of sources, some dedicated and some partial, for information about AAF/USAF-specific insignia, patches, wings, quals, emblems and the like - representing just a few of the roughly 45,000 available. If anyone finds a typo error, let me know and I'll correct immediately.

Please feel free to add.

I do not vouch for any of them in particular, but list them purely for quick reference purposes and will try to keep adding on to this thread from time to time as interesting things surface in research.

The idea is to have as many links as humanly possible for research purposes, whether the information is bona fide or not, so that it can be found and used as a contribution to the study of USAF militaria.

Lars

Thanks everybody...

I'll keep my eye on this thread and add on as often as I can.

USAF was not real big on patches and so forth until Vietnam, and since.

Course, when I enlisted, the entire USAF was only a grand total of 16 years old. :D

I was then a year older that IT was!

Would there be any possibility for this thread, or something better than it, to become posted in the REF section on patches and sleeve insignia where (as of yet) there have not been any threads started for USAF?

I'm willing to put a lot of work into such a project, and keep tabs on it, if it would be something people felt would be useful.

Reason for asking: it can get real time consuming to go back through previous threads to find this one again time after time.

???

At your service, just point me the right direction. :D Just trying to make sure the zoomies do their part.

Truly outstanding website devoted to USAF Flag Ranks, uniforms, insignia, flags and the whole magilla... very definitive.

Lots of pictures etc.

This official link will get you to most FAQs and aircraft specs, plus USAF agencies and command structure and jargon du jour... when you are trying to verify militaria by coming at it from that side.
