WWII US Merchant Marine Academy Uniform

I normally dont collect Merchant Marine uniforms , but for $25 , I couldnt resist this . While not a " high ticket " item , I was impressed by the quality of the bullion work. The USNR ( Navy Reserve Officer's ) badge is just outstanding . It has hardly any tarnish . Merchant Marine officers wore these badges if they were USNR officers as well.

 

It is named on the inside , but I dont know anything about him yet,

Kurt this may prove an interesting research because the MMA earned a 'battle standard' during WWII. Depending on the era of the coat and when this guy was at the Academy, he may have experienced combat while still a cadet. Great find and good luck on researching it.
