The Lancaster County Young Marines together with the Quarryville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3575 and The World War II Historical Preservation Group, Inc. cordially invite you to participate in the Young Marines 3rd Annual WWII Encampment.

We are doing this event to help educate the Young Marines and the public and to benefit the Lancaster County Young Marines with funds for future trips, uniforms and other necessities.

The last two years event was a great success so this year we would like to expand on it by including more reenactment groups, displays and demonstrations.

This event is FREE to reenactors/participants.

The event is held on a 275 acre farm located at 299 Locust Lane Quarryville, PA 17566. Digging in, Driving your vehicles on the vast unimproved road network, running patrols, and unit training is highly encouraged.

Participating units are encouraged to engage the Young Marines as well as the public and talk about the unit they're portraying, explain the equipment, weapons and living conditions that were experienced by soldiers during World War II.

The event will be held on October 7, 8, 9 2011. Units are welcome to arrive Friday to setup. The event runs from Saturday morning and ends at 3pm on Sunday to allow for reenactors travel home.

Upon arrival all reenactors will be required to sign a waiver in order to be covered by the insurance carrier.

Portajohns will be provided

Firewood will be provided.

Water is provided.

A Saturday evening meal will be provided for reenactors.

Vehicles are welcome as the land is VERY vehicle friendly.

We would like to organize a Public tactical demonstration to take place on Saturday and Sunday. Units who are interested in this should contact Jim Lennon ([email protected]). Units involved in the tactical will be notified prior to the event so a scenario can be choreographed.

There is plenty of open area for tentage, motor pools, displays, etc.

Digging in and field fortifications are encouraged, however all positions need to be filled at the conclusion of the event.

All impressions of WWII are welcome to participate.

All questions and RSVP's can be directed to Jim Lennon, [email protected], or Chad Phillips, [email protected].

Information about the Lancaster County Young Marines or general event questions can be directed to Danielle Butler, [email protected]

Registration forms will be sent to you upon notice and acceptance of participation and must be received no later then September 1, 2011.

We hope to see you there.
