kammo-man Posted July 17, 2009 Share #1 Posted July 17, 2009 Hi All I just picked this Ike jacket up during the week . It is a 1945 dated size 38long Ike jacket with a 101st patch sewn on the left arm . This came from a Rag mill . The patch is a 1 piece construction type . There has been pin on badges but these are long gone . There is a curious stamp printed in the left breast area that I have never seen before . Has anyone a clue to what it is ? Teamski Posted July 17, 2009 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2009 The patch doesn't look original to me, or at least is a late 1950's made version..... (I don't see any versions of the WWII Eagle patch that matches that).... Anybody else think the same? -Ski

atb Posted July 18, 2009 Share #9 Posted July 18, 2009 thanks T Any ideas on the stamp? owen Looks like a French issue stamp. The French made a copy of the US "Ike" Jacket after WW2 for their troops. A put together look-alike, maybe?
Johan Willaert Posted July 18, 2009 Share #10 Posted July 18, 2009 Compare with the similar stamp in this jacket used by the French post WW2 http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/ind...st&p=344838
kammo-man Posted July 20, 2009 Author Share #11 Posted July 20, 2009 JW It is the same stamp . I thought it was a movie company , or something . Now I know . I wonder how the 101 got on this jacket ? owen
Teamski Posted July 20, 2009 Share #12 Posted July 20, 2009 Probably from a reenactor. -Ski
kammo-man Posted July 20, 2009 Author Share #13 Posted July 20, 2009 Then that would explain the 38long size as it drowns me !!! owen
Allan H. Posted July 20, 2009 Share #14 Posted July 20, 2009 Owen, The patch appears to be a "WW2 Impressions" patch. I would say that it is NOT a 1950's issue piece. The others have already nailed the stamp for you. It is a reenactor's jacket. Allan
kammo-man Posted July 20, 2009 Author Share #15 Posted July 20, 2009 Agreed for sure . Looking at the thread on the inside patch it looks like it was cut on a automatic machine . That is for anyone who has no clue to what I mean cut to the exact same length ,and uniform . if done on an old fashioned single needle the threads would have been longer and less consistant . Thanks to all who nailed this little uniform problem . owen
