digi-shots Posted May 31, 2024 #1 Posted May 31, 2024 I have a uniform named to a tech 5 soldier of the 106th ID, 424th infantry. There are some small pin holes and indentations on the lapels. Did the 106th have a DUI? The only SSI is the Golden Lion patch with no signs of other previous SSI or threads on the inside. There is a sewn on Ruptured Duck, so this appears to be his last uniform at time of discharge. Thanks!
atb Posted May 31, 2024 #2 Posted May 31, 2024 No, every unit did not have an approved DUI manufactured. That's why there are so many unauthorized ones out there. Some are foreign-made for the unit soldiers, some are "filler" or fantasy pieces for collectors or veterans. The 106th Infantry Division and the 424th Infantry did not have an approved Distinctive Unit Insignia. Your soldier could have put a pair of the "patch-type" DUIs for the 106th Infantry Division on the lapels.
