mbec Posted March 21, 2024 #1 Posted March 21, 2024 One of my uncles gave me this a looong time ago. A salt shaker made from a 50 cal. Don't know if there was ever a pepper shaker but if there was I never saw it. He was on the Bonhomme Richard during WW2. Mark
GWS Posted March 22, 2024 #2 Posted March 22, 2024 That's actually pretty cool! Is the bottom "filling plug" solid or hollowed out? I've got a pair from WW1 made from some type of small shells that may have been cut down, I'm not sure. A nice family heirloom for sure. Thanks for posting it. Steve
mbec Posted March 23, 2024 Author #3 Posted March 23, 2024 Hi Steve, the base is solid. Thanks for looking. Mark
GWS Posted March 23, 2024 #4 Posted March 23, 2024 The solid base is a real plus as it adds more weight to keep it from tipping over as it is fairly tall. A very nice piece of family history. Steve
