cmarksB175 Posted January 26 Share #1 Posted January 26 My father was an Avenger pilot on USS Langley and flew on the first carrier strike against Iwo Jima June 15, 1944. Here are 3 images you haven't seen before. Pre-invasion aerial pictures of the island have become a 'runaway hobby' with me. It's very interesting to see what it looked like before the bombing campaign, ground battle, and conversion to an American airbase changed everything.
