Can anyone identify this military base / location / unit ?

Hi Everyone!

 

I am trying to help a friend identify the location where these photos were taken and possibly the unit. These photos came in a large group but unfortunately there is no information on the origin.

I only know these photos were taken approximately 1942-1943 in a tropical region, possibly in the Caribbean. The unit may be related to Ordnance. That's all the information I have.

 

Does anyone recognize this place or unit?

This soldier seems to have a SSI patch, but unfortunately I can't tell what it is and the details aren't clear.

Awesome! This forum is the best! I kept looking for bases in Panama, Cuba and other places but Puerto Rico just didn't cross my mind. Thanks so much! There are many more photos in this group and a lot of them are stateside so identifying those locations will be the next challenge.

Just wanted to give an update: Thanks to your help, my friend posted a video of these photos and others from the group on YouTube.
