Need Help Dating These Epaulettes??

Thanks for the info…this is an education for me as I have never had to date epaulets earlier than WW1.  What are you looking at that you are using to date them?  Examples I have found online are all over the place as far as dates are concerned. Makes it difficult at best

I would guess late 1840's to the Civil War period. Here is a similar pair in my collection that can be dated to late 1840's by the backmark on the Massachusetts buttons.

These, for a junior officer of the Boston National Lancers, would be a bit earlier and likely date between 1836 (the company's founding) and the late 1840's, based upon the one-piece National Lancers buttons. Notice the buttons are attached by string and not internally attached to the epaulets, and the epaulets lack the pronged attaching hook of the later epaulets.
