GAR/Span-Am Photograph Monuments ID Help

Recommended Posts

Hello

1. I pick-up recently some photos of several monuments that I can't ID.

2 .At first I thought it was Dewey Arch but saw the GAR letters.

3. The parade looks like its GAR or Span-am?

4. Soldier on horseback monument?

5. Several men dressed up with muskets, sword and badges.

Thank you

Tony

The top photo seems to be the General John A. Logan statue in Chicago.  It was dedicated in 1897.

With the GAR marked on the large open arch, I would assume that it was a Grand Army of the Republic National Convention in Chicago.  There was one in Chicago in 1900.  There were several thousand comrades in attendance.   The Kankakee Band would not have had far to travel.
