ROCKET Posted March 30, 2023 #1 Posted March 30, 2023 I was hoping someone out there could help identify this item. I have no clue what it is and what it's used for. I think it's a mount for some kind of scope??? The top of it is hinged and opens up. I found this amongst some of my son's military gear. My 28 year old son (Andrew Peters) was killed in action last month while fighting with the International Legion in Ukraine. He has an entire basement full of military gear that we're slowly going through. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! :) John
GatorDoc Posted April 1, 2023 #2 Posted April 1, 2023 Rocket, I am sorry for your loss. The bracket you posted is 80063-SM-D-850360, is US military , and from the early 1990's. This is a mounting bracket for the AN/PVS-4, Night Vision Sight, Individual Served Weapon. This particular model ( M72A1) is used on M72 LAW and has the corresponding bracket to compensate for cold (C) weather when aiming. Often pieces like this remain under ITAR rules so be careful to whom you sell to. G
