dunmore1774 Posted September 23, 2022 #1 Posted September 23, 2022 Has anyone seen one like this? I've mostly seen the ones with orange handles. Appears to be plexi-glass, either red tint or red paint (some is wearing on the side). Is this factory made? field modified? Vietnam era? Any help is appreciated.
Misfit 45 Posted September 23, 2022 #2 Posted September 23, 2022 I'm 99% sure this is not a factory made handle. The knife itself was definitely made during the Vietnam era. The Camillus MC-1 was made from 1960 -1986. Then again later 1988-1993. Marv
SKIPH Posted September 23, 2022 #3 Posted September 23, 2022 Not factory made. But, someone has skills. SKIP
sactroop Posted September 23, 2022 #5 Posted September 23, 2022 When the Camillus Company auction took place in 2007 the late Tom Williams, a Camillus employee and official Camillus company historian, purchased some knife parts. Among them parts for the MIL-K-818, and the MC-1 knives. These parts were used to repair knives for owners of the original Camillus Company knives where possible. Tom passed away a few years ago. There also was a small company consisting of some former Camillus employees that was called RockUSA Cutlery. Unfortunately RockUSA closed it doors at the end of 2021. At this time I don't have any recommendations regarding who may be doing this sort of work. The plastic scales do get damaged and if someone doesn't have a supply of original scales this certainly looks like a good improvisation.
dunmore1774 Posted September 24, 2022 Author #6 Posted September 24, 2022 Thanks again for the info :) Does anyone know of someone who repairs these? This one needs a little help
