digi-shots Posted March 22, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 22, 2022 Hello, Here are two full size Navigator wings (they are the same size, the angle makes one look larger). I think they are both WWII, the clutch pins are the shorter style. Even though there are no manufacturer names on the back, can anyone tell me who might have made them. Is one pair more desirable than the other? I kinda like the warmer tone vs the darker blue/black one. Also shown is a smaller miniature wing.. does anyone know who might have made it? 5thwingmarty Posted March 22, 2022 Share #2 Posted March 22, 2022 The first wing pattern is attributed to LeVelle. The second is a government issue pattern attributed by some to Robbins. The third looks like a Balfour pattern.
digi-shots Posted March 22, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted March 22, 2022 Thanks Marty.. The mini wing with the what I call punch dot on the shoulder of the wing is familiar.. I think I have some full size wings like that.
bschwartz Posted March 22, 2022 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2022 The one you're referring to as the "punch dot" is usually called a pelican beak pattern as the shoulder looks like a Pelican's head with the round dot being the eye. Several companies made this style of wing. The Meyer version, and the later, oversized Gemsco version, have a unique peak in the bill portion of the pelican's beak.
