GAZOO Posted February 16, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2022 Can anyone help Me with This LOM - CC Curious if an Original Or Reproduction ? I am a Very New Collector But think I got what I was looking for and would like to know if its parts are correct with all being produced and issued at the same time ? I suspect this set to be an original 1950/60s LOM-CC Set ?? but would like to ask the experts if this looks like a made up set I would also like to ask about the imprinted 12C mark on the back ? In my limited research I read the 12C was the maker mark used just after BB & B If this is a as-issued set and considering the Lapel Pin Screw Back is marked E & H SIMON INC N.Y.C. ? could the 12C be associated with them as well ? If this is a correct set Maybe. Specific information: LEGION of MERIT - CHIEF COMMANDER BADGE is 2 Peace, 2 Rivet Construction BACK Imprinted with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 12 C The pictured RIBBON & LAPEL PIN were Received with BADGE Ribbon is The more Pinkish color With THINNER White edge stripes Lapel Pin is the SCREW Post type, Round Screw back is marked E & H SIMON INC N.Y.C. I am Assuming 1950s/60s production and because of the Screw back lapel pin I lean towards 1950s (Korea era maybe?) SIDE NOTE The RIBBON & LAPEL PIN have been with this set for some time considering the felt cushion in its storage Box has an aged indention that looks to have resulted from having all three items stored in place for years Any Dating Info or Corrections to my LIMITED research will be greatly appreciated
jmpmstr Posted February 17, 2022 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2022 Balfour LOM dates from 1951 as far as I know this is the initial year for them. Your CC is a 70s or so made by Cora (12c maker mark).

Balfour company and see statements saying they made US Military Medals ONLY during WWII. even there own web site history page says during WWII as well. I expect there would of been a stockpile so these may have been issued for some time after the war. I will send an email to the company asking if anyone knows but expect this information is lost to history Again Thank you very much for taking the time to help out a new collector

jmpmstr Posted February 25, 2022 Share #5 Posted February 25, 2022 Might be the case in general regarding the alphanumeric codes, but I am positive this is a 1970s strike

Thank you very much 70s still places it in the Vietnam Era so for now I am happy with this one :)
