USN ? "Quill & Key " badge "Civil War Period ?

Hi

   i bought this on the off chance it was civil war period ? i recall quill and key used as a rank badge in the USN ,not sure of time frame , can anyone confirm my hunch or let me know what it is

Suspect it is a masonic badge. The pin & catch look like World War I era or later.

 

Google "Grand Auditor Grand Lodge Masonic Officer Jewel" for a modern example.
