Hey everyone! I was sent a picture of an M1 from a friend in southern Illinois who was at a farm auction. There were a few other militaria items that weren’t advertised. I threw a low bid their way and got it only to see that it had D Bales. 
 

A couple massive red flags jumped out, but I’m curious what you all think.
 

- It’s a Schlueter 39A

- The liner band has the dimples but it looks like it was shifted and spun around on the helmet to misalign them.

- As for the other specifics like the chinstraps, buckles, bales, etc. I’ll defer to you all. Super cool piece, even if it’s faked.

Hello, 

Sorry but I see an original shell (repainted) with fake chinstraps and bales.

The chinstraps concern me- oh and the fact schluter never made M2’s might be a small red flag…

Immediate red flags, once you know what to look for you can spot bad helmets almost immediately.
