Elliott R Posted October 1, 2021 #1 Posted October 1, 2021 I just got my account approved, so hi everyone. Im very new to this so excuse me if I am putting this in the wrong thread or something. Ayway, I was wondering why I can never find world war 2 army and navy commendation medals. They were introduced in World War 2, but all the ones I find for sale are modern. If you know anyone who has a world war 2 army or navy commendation medal, please share. If you could also inform me of what type of box and or case it would be in that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Elliott R
jmpmstr Posted October 1, 2021 #2 Posted October 1, 2021 Elliott Welcome to the forum; great folks and great knowledge to be had here. The Army Commendation Medal was authorized in WW2 retroactive to Dec 6, 1941 as the Commendation Ribbon then later in 1949 with Metal Pendant. The medal we know design wise dates from 1960 with the early medals mounted on a crimp over slot brooch. This is why you don’t see what you’d consider a wartime example. You will find them housed in a clear plastic case suitable for wall mounting.
