Hi everyone!

I need some help. I would be glad if anyone could help me to know if these 3 helmets are us M1s or some kind of euroclones. I think they are vietnam era helmets. The seller who I want to buy these from says he didnt find any stamps in the shell, but for me, the painting and shape looks correct. What do you think?

Thank you very much!

Hi there kmmt0,

Does the helmet bail tongue bend under or over mate?

If it bends over, it's definitely a Euro-clone mate, although if it bend under that isn't a definitive ID as a US M1, as some early clones did bend under... also does the lid have a heat stamp... If it does have a heat stamp its a US manufactured lid, as Euro-clones don't have a stamp?

Also look at the helmet bails spot welds... US are much deeper and more noticeable that clones... See pics fella 😁👍

Look at the pics I've attached mate.

My very kindest regards,

Ian.

Thank you! Helped a lot! Im still waiting for the photos of the parts you recommended to watch.

Somebody told me on another forum, that the first one (of the photos of the helmets outside) should be vietnam era, and the other 2 is post-vietnam war. What do you think?

Thank you again!

Best regards,

Máté

You're most welcome mate, my pleasure...

I have learnt sooooo much from the guy on this collectors site... in fact very nearly everything I know I learnt here Máté.

Without knowing the heart stamp numbers I myself have no way in telling what era the helmet shells come from... Front seamed helmets and fixed bail helmets are all WW2 however once the US redesigned the M1 to swivel bail and rear seamed they then all look the same (To me anyway) I've no way to tell the difference without looking at the heart stamps sadly.

Looking forward to them arriving so you can look and take more pics 😁👍

My very kindest regards Máté,

Ian (Coldfusion)

New photos arrived! :) They seem fine to me, based on what you told me about the bales.

Thank you for your help again!

I finally got them. Turned out one is a Dana (7361), the other is (an early?) McCord (M 5A) and on the dark one I could not find the stamp yet.
