B-29 Turrets' inside size?

hello all,

was long wondering how much was the encumbrance the turrets had in B-29, at least those three that were in fuselage's pressurized portions (thus excluding the lower rear one). Even better, I'd like find any photos taken inside the airplane and showing an actual view of the said areas, especially the forward one where two turrets (upper and lower) had to be quite close each other. Cannot find any infos telling their inside dimensions, even less any pictures.

Thanx for any helps  -   Franco.

a great thanx Paul,

what a super article, and a fantastic technology for that time...  amazing, would be a diminutive word.    btw. that color photo of tail gunner's position and his futuristic gunsight ahead, looks like taken from some SF movies, it's incredible. As I can understand, not even him was going to fire directly his guns although being placed very near them  -   the whole thing worked via the remotely controlled system.

You may try contacting the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT. They have a beautifully restored B-29 on display as well as complete turrets separately displayed on stands. They may be able to help you with the specifics.
