BILL THE PATCH Posted May 13, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 13, 2021 Yes definitely post war, the G-21 has a meaning which escapes me. It's a code that they use. Someone with more knowledge will chime in I'm sure. Sent from my moto g(7) play using Tapatalk
CandaceStonestreet86 Posted May 13, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted May 13, 2021 I was also curious as to when they started putting "The Rock" on their insignia. I know they received the nickname in 1945 but don't know when they started using it

Reforger Posted May 14, 2021 Share #9 Posted May 14, 2021 I've seen a few of these newer crests that look like they are missing their finish. Who would wear a crest with a rough reddish copper surface like that? On the other hand the enamel has already been applied. But I have the feeling these crests left production unfinished. CandaceStonestreet86 Posted May 14, 2021 Author Share #10 Posted May 14, 2021 You don't think someone tried to make these look old? They definitely were not selling them for much if they were trying to fake someone
tredhed2 Posted May 14, 2021 Share #11 Posted May 14, 2021 The design, with motto, was approved 21Aug52. Letter codes began use in the mid-60s. G 23 is Ira Greene.
patches Posted May 15, 2021 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2021 And that it doesn't have MADE IN USA on it means it dates from 1965 to 1974.
