brad k Posted March 6, 2021 #1 Posted March 6, 2021 I added this to my collection a few years ago, it was made in 1919. the grips are colt and I'm not sure about the hammer, otherwise all origional.
everforward Posted March 6, 2021 #3 Posted March 6, 2021 That’s a beauty.....good honest original finish on that one. The UMC finishes tended to brown up pretty easily.
gap Posted March 8, 2021 #6 Posted March 8, 2021 Nice! Is this what is referred to as a black army finish?
brad k Posted March 8, 2021 Author #7 Posted March 8, 2021 black army is usually a colt referance but I don't know why it couldn't apply to the remington umc also. the colts and remingtons from this time, late 1918 were not as finely polished so the finish is more flat blue and both colt and rem. pistols had bad finish preparation so that the bluing flakes off in places. a lot of the remingtons I've seen have no finish at all remaining.
