Is this a veteran's association medal or just an old patriotic July 4th medal?

Is this a veteran's association medal or just an old patriotic July 4th medal?

4 1/2" tall. C M Robbins. It looks as if the ribbon may have been added later.

thanks

Most organizations would have had their name/logo on the badge somewhere (perhaps there is a missing top bar), but this style of badge is what was commonly sold/given away as a souvenir of an event.

I love it! Really cool! I'd have that in heartbeat, even being not military-specific! Thanks for posting the pic!

Thanks Jeff. I wanted to be sure. I've been sorting through a box of medals, many of which are headed for eBay.

I am fairly certain that the ribbon and suspension chains are married to the pendant. The colors of the metals do not match. You see this quite often. People try to make the item look more complete (i.e. more attractive) from parts they have.

The proper suspension bar should be made from the same metal as the pendant. It would look something like this souvenir from a G.A.R. National Encampment.

What you have is nice, but it is not 100% all original.
