Bob Hudson Posted January 14, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 14, 2018 Can anyone deduce where and when this was made? The fabric is very flat and thin. It is apparently from the BAS - battalion aid station - for the Second Bn 9th Marines. I wonder if this was from a shooting competition or was it made for the BAS security forces? Bob Hudson Posted January 15, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted January 15, 2018 This appears to be for the 9th Marines - would this have been made in Japan during the period between the Korean and Vietnam wars? Wikipedia says, "The regiment was reformed on 17 March 1952 at Camp Pendleton, California and assigned to the 3d Marine Division. It was deployed during August 1953 to Camp Gifu, Japan and then in June 1955 to Okinawa. The regiment alternated between Japan and Okinawa in the 1950s."
