AB45 Posted July 11, 2016 #1 Posted July 11, 2016 Hey My friend found today this coin on an old US airfield.The coin is from the 7th Infantry Regiment, right so far.The also were with us.The coin looks like steel?More like a blank, unfinished?Who can say what.Thanks for answers Greetings from Germany For fans of history In the last picture you can see a red bridge (maybe). HelloThe airfield was built in 1954 by the US Army and used until 2007 Can somebody tell me whether the normal Challenger Coin someone now ? Greetings AB45

firefighter Posted July 13, 2016 #6 Posted July 13, 2016 Challenge Coins were first used by the U.S. Special Forces, for drinking. The object was, when there was a large group of guys at a bar someone would pull out a coin and slap it on the bar, challenge. Anyone who couldn't produce their coin had to buy a round of drinks. They started being being made by other units (infantry, aviation, etc..) in the 90's, mostly, at first, by the units commander or SGM as a "Atta Boy" award.Now every ones has one.
