Troop Trucks and Legion Conventions

I had heard that Legion Posts kept troop trucks so they could arrive at a legion convention in style. These trucks were part of the famous convention parades.

This tradition goes back to the early days of the legion, where ww1 troop trucks were kept by posts.

I do remember seeing a big army troop truck by our legion post. Was this a common thing?

John,

Can't speak for the tradition, but it's news to me, in the 5 years since I joined the Legion. I've been a member of 1 Post all that time, but have visited others along the way and never seen anything like that. However, I'm accustomed to seeing either cannons or tracked vehicles as monuments in front of many Legion or VFW buildings.

I like the idea, but bet that with modern insurance, etc. it's simply too expensive.

Maybe that's a "justification" to get the CCKW I've wanted for years:)
