Ho-Nez Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Posted August 2, 2015 Another user suggested I post this thrift store find over here. 8.5" x 8.5" wooden plaque, featuring a Donald-esque duck. The drawing looks a little too crude to have been a product of the Disney team, but it's certainly inspired by their work.
R. Watkins Posted August 2, 2015 #3 Posted August 2, 2015 Nice find. Any idea of the time frame connected with this piece.
Johnny Signor Posted August 2, 2015 #4 Posted August 2, 2015 I have an image of a patch of this NAS , but it's too big to load here .......

Ho-Nez Posted August 2, 2015 Author #6 Posted August 2, 2015 Nice find. Any idea of the time frame connected with this piece. According to wikipedia, NAS Lake City was commissioned in 1942 and "regular military operations terminated in March 1946." I'd assume it's from that period, but I suppose it's possible it was made later as a souvenir for a reunion or something. The graphics are screen printed or applied as a water-transfer decal, either of which could be from that era.

It definitely has a forties 'look' about it, but it's a nice piece of history regardless of the era.
