Here is a Civil War period Suhl Musket and bayonet with “City of Philadelphia” markings. The City of Philadelphia used this marking on a number of guns procured

for use of the City's militia during the Civil War. The musket is also marked “ A. WURFFLEIN.” Wurfflein had contracts with the City of Philadelphia to supply

arms and ammunition and repair/update older arms.

This musket is identified to Corp. Cloyd M. Parker Co. “I” 126th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry 1862-1863

Co. “E” 101st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry 1865.

The stock is marked C.M. Parker.

Cloyd M. Parker was involved in the battle of Fredericksburg, where the regiment participated in the ineffectual charge of Humphrey's division upon Marye's

heights, sustaining severe losses. After the futile "Mud March," the Regiment established winter quarters at Falmouth and remained there until the opening of the

Chancellorsville campaign at the end of April, 1863. It was closely engaged on May 2, where the brigade held its ground until its ammunition was exhausted, when,

failing to receive support, it was obliged to fall back after suffering heavy losses.

Very Nice, Well marked and researched. If I recall correctly the City of Philadelphia also had flint muskets converted for use by the City Guard.

A great Historical Musket to own.
