Steindaddie Posted June 21, 2008 Share #9 Posted June 21, 2008 Oh hell, I really don't want to have to say it, but.....Those are re-prints. The back page photos taken during the attack are the most apparent give away. The original back page should be normal newspaper stuff. The top lefthand pic shows Wheeler Field under attack - that photo was taken by the Japanese. The one of the beached midget sub - it didn't wash ashore until the day after the attack. And all that aside, no photos were released for many months after the attack, much less the same day. Even those without photos have been re-printed. A genuine copy will have a very large ink smudge between the "A" and "R" in "WAR" among other things. They have been re-printing these for decades so the aging makes it's easy to think it is an original. Unfortunately, these are sold as originals on Ebay all the time. A genuine copy is about $1,000 - S1,500 But you do have something that looks good in a frame and is a great backdrop to any Pearl Harbor display. IMPERIAL QUEST Posted June 21, 2008 Share #10 Posted June 21, 2008 Well Brandon, I know you will be/are disappointed, but look at it this way, you would have paid this much even if they were sold as reprints and you knew it at the time. You really haven't spent too much. As Will says, they will look nice framed.
