danrcalhoun Posted August 10, 2014 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2014 I saw these yesterday as well. Collectors are looking for these thats for sure. The older badges that say "Air Police" are highly collectable verses the current issued ones that say "Security Police" on them. The ones that have the color to them are pretty rare since the Air Force only had those during a test phase when they started issuing badges. The This version is the same as the original minus the color. They used to be issued to AP's from the armory when they drew their weapons for duty and were required to be turned in at the end of shift. These days they are issued upon completion of training. I believe they started issuing them in the late 70's but I am not 100% on that. Anyhow I got ahold of one of the AP Badges a few years back and had it mounted next to one of the badges that I was issued. I know collectors would frown on my mounting the badge like this, but this is what I wanted it for in the first place.
