wildcat123 Posted July 1, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 1, 2014 I am assuming this is a squadron patch... but I have no idea. This belongs to a friend. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

501stGeronimo Posted July 1, 2014 Share #3 Posted July 1, 2014 Looks like it is Australian made, reminds me of the 393rd BS squadron patch, but that has different colors.
wildcat123 Posted July 1, 2014 Author Share #4 Posted July 1, 2014 I dug through all the references I had and couldn't find anything (Pinks and Greens, the 1943 National Geos, etc). Thanks for your help, let me know what you find!
Bearmon Posted July 1, 2014 Share #5 Posted July 1, 2014 I know it isn't this squadron but wow are they ever similar!
ragpick Posted July 1, 2014 Share #6 Posted July 1, 2014 I think it is likely for the 822nd Bomb Squadron, 38th Bomb Group, 5th Air Force. I've never seen an attributed patch before but, the cat details look very close to the representations in the Battle Colors book and other sources. Jeffro Posted July 1, 2014 Share #7 Posted July 1, 2014 Ragpick has it right I think. 822nd BS, 38th BG. Each squadron was an animal head. 822nd was the "Black Panthers". If you go to their website, you'll see the designs. The Sunsetters operated in the SWP which explains the Aussie embroidery. Jeffro
