"R" WW2 Pilots wings just got after 2 years of trying to buy them!

Picked this cool set of wings up along with several others, might have to start collecting wings again! Been working on these for a while, never seen a set before, strange makers mark, cant make it out PHELPO?

I agree with Paul that the "R" is probably for "Radio."

 

Never the less, congratulations not only for the wings but for not giving up.

Radio makes sence i dont know why i had recon in my head. I cant make out the maker on the wings? Thanks for the positive comments!

Couldn't the 'R' stand for Radar? I would think an un-official wing worn by a nightfighter Radar Observer? Just my 2 cents,

My guess is that it stands for radio as well... Could have been worn by a radio operator in a Field Artillery observation aircraft...
