Help requested on a makers mark for USN Distinguished Civilian Service Medal

Hello all!

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer as it slowly winds down.

I recently picked up this example of a USN Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. Unfortunately the maker's mark was offset when struck the second time, so it is basically illegible. I've seen Dondero marks in this position, but none of the the letters seem to match that name. Perhaps E.H. Simon? There is no mark on the brooch under the pin.

If anyone has an example with a mark in a similar place (6 o'clock on the reverse) of this particular award, or a similar award, I'd really appreciate hearing about it.

Thank you for your time in stopping by and reading my thread!

Best wishes,

Joe

Hello F-X and thank you for taking the time to reply! It could very well be a gold filled mark, usually they are accompanied by the maker as well, as in your case

I am hoping that someone out there has a similar piece where the strike was legible.

meilleurs vœux!

Joe
