cplnorton Posted June 12, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 12, 2013 I'm trying to figure out a uniform. Is this chevron a WWII style, or a post WWII style? The Marine I believe was in till almost 1947, so is this style Chevron correct? The stripe itself is not really like my other ones on my other known WWII uniforms. The other ones the stripes on the patch are made out of Gabardine or wool or basically they are identical in material to the jacket. This one looks the stripes are a shinier type material. Basically when did this style of patches start to show up? Could be original to 45-46 time frame?
TLeo Posted June 12, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 12, 2013 Those stripes are late war time stripes. There is a pair just like them on my dad's old WW2 uniform.
Lee Ragan Posted June 13, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2013 I believe these were used till 1954 when the wider stripe chevrons came out.
uplandmod Posted June 21, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 21, 2013 Two of my 5th Mar Div jackets have these type of chevrons, they seem to be late war. Leonardo
