vintageproductions Posted January 9, 2013 #1 Posted January 9, 2013 This is by far one of my favorite nylon flight jackets from the 50's - 60's. Worn by ground crew members on the flight decks so that they were visible. Have also heard there is a red and black checkered one also, but have never seen one.
doyler Posted January 9, 2013 #2 Posted January 9, 2013 Those are cool Bob. Saw a re/black one about 15 years ago on ebay and only a couple of the others on occasion for sale over the years.
Jack's Son Posted January 9, 2013 #3 Posted January 9, 2013 I saw that jacket on a guy riding Seabiscuit!
vintageproductions Posted January 9, 2013 Author #4 Posted January 9, 2013 You can laugh Robin, but everytime I buy one of these Danielle comes in the shop and says, "Oh I see you bought another jockey jacket".
American Graffiti Posted January 9, 2013 #5 Posted January 9, 2013 They are cool for sure, and covetable in japan, I have chased several unsuccessfully! Think member Pluto has a brown and yellow? check one, the zipper was brown at least. AG
Corpsmancollector Posted January 10, 2013 #6 Posted January 10, 2013 That's fantastic Bob, never seen one before. Thanks for posting, I can see why they might be fashionable in Japan! Will
Pluto Posted January 10, 2013 #9 Posted January 10, 2013 Indeed AG - mine is exactly the same as Bob's - same maker - Lion - same fab proto op-art print, black and yellow, sprung Crown zips throughout... P.
Bebel Posted January 12, 2013 #10 Posted January 12, 2013 Rare jacket. I've seen two or three for sale in some years. One was on Ebay some weeks ago. Franck
1canpara Posted March 15, 2013 #11 Posted March 15, 2013 Close...but no cigar! Now that's funny Ian! Seriously though, that's a very cool deck jacket Bob! Rick
dmert66 Posted August 16, 2013 #12 Posted August 16, 2013 Where can I find one? This would be perfect for rides around town in my 52 m38 follow me jeep!
benguttery Posted December 22, 2013 #13 Posted December 22, 2013 I bought one of these from a neighborhood garage sale about 20 years ago. The fellow wore it as a USAF ground crewman. It was a prized possession for a while. I'd never been able to locate one while I was collecting this kind of stuff. Eventually passed along to a dealer was as happy as I was to see it.
